Services and Fees

There are several ways to work with Storyfix.com, all of them easy.  Whatever you submit to
us, your work will receive a careful reading, followed by a thoughtful and thorough written
evaluation, called the Coaching Document.  It is here where each aspect of your story’s
relationship with The Four Corners of Story – concept, structure, character and theme – as
well as writing voice, format, marketability and any other execution issues, will be evaluated,
discussed and empowered with value-adding ideas to make your story even better.  The
Coaching Document and the marked-up manuscript will be returned to you, usually within two
weeks of submission.  The Coaching Document can be emailed at the time of mailing, as well.

WE INVITE YOU TO SHOP AROUND.  YOU'LL  DISCOVER
THAT STORYFIX.COM OFFERS THE BEST STORY COACH-
ING VALUE IN THE BUSINESS.

                                    WE GUARANTEE IT.

NOVELS (200 to 450 manuscript pages*)

BASIC FEE: $495

Assumes standard manuscript formatting (suitable margins, double spacing, and the use of 12-
point Courier type; other formats will default to word count for pricing benchmarks).

(*Manuscripts over 450 pages in length, add $1.00 per page.)

(*For manuscripts under 200 pages, the fee is $300.  Rationale: while less reading time is
required, it takes nearly as much time to analyze a short manuscript as it does a longer one.)

SCREENPLAYS

BASIC FEE: $295

Assumes standard screenplay formatting and length.  Exceptions subject to re-quoted price.

OUTLINES, BEAT SHEETS, SYNOPSES AND
STORY PROPOSALS

BASIC FEE: $1.00 PER PAGE, $75.00 MINIMUM

Any emails and/or telephone conferences that result from or otherwise pertain to these
developmental-phase documents are, to a reasonable extent, included in the Basic fee.  Just as
with full manuscripts, these types of developmental documents receive a full analysis.

DEVELOPMENTAL CONSULTING (separate
from, and prior to, a fee-based document analysis)

Not everyone with a story to tell has a document to submit.  Storyfix.com can work with you
in an advisory capacity on your story and your developmental process.

The underlying model used by Storyfix.com was originally conceived as a page-one develop-
mental tool.  If all you have is an idea, even if you have no vision whatsoever as to how to get
that idea down on paper, Storyfix.com can work with you to build your idea into a story, step
by step, element by element, toward a workable completed draft.

Using emails and telephone consulting, even face-to-face meetings when feasible, we can work
with you to define each step along the way, and help you produce whatever written elements
are required to proceed.  Our level of involvement is completely up to you – think of this
service as a personal workshop, a relationship that is nothing short of a creative partner and
coach as you turn your idea into a fully developed, powerful story.

Our charge for this work is hourly, at $50 per.  At the end of the consulting process, when
you have produced an outline, beat sheet, synopsis or other written material, we will negotiate
a final reading/evaluation fee for that document based on the amount of prior consulting
services provided.  If your total consulting time meets or exceeds the Basic rate for the type of
document (synopsis, outline or manuscript), the reading and evaluation will be at no further
cost.

LINE EDITING

The identification and correction of basic spelling, grammar and format problems is a
completely separate and worthy aspect of manuscript evaluation, requiring a separate read and
process.  If you want your manuscript to receive a careful and complete line edit, resulting in a
detailed mark-up of your pages, our charge is:

• $1.00 additional per page, if you are already paying for the basic evaluation service.
• $1.50 per page for line editing alone, without the Basic service and Coaching Document.

The basic service does include some degree of copy editing, to an extent required to assess the
ultimate marketability of the project.

NON-FICTION AND SHORTER WORK

• For pieces that don’t fit the above formats, the fee is a flat $1.50 per page, with a
$100 minimum.  This includes:

SUBSEQUENT DRAFTS (fees for manuscripts previously evaluated
by Storyfix.com)

Once you have received your initial Coaching Document, you are of course free to use our
input as you wish.  Many writers, however, will want to resubmit the revised work in an effort
to take the manuscript to the next level.  If we have worked on your manuscript previously,
we will do a full read and assessment of subsequent drafts for a flat fee of $1.00 per page.

A Quick Caveat or two…

Storyfix.com reserves the right to turn away your manuscript if we feel the material and its
execution is beyond our ability to add value, or is unsuitable for other reasons.  We are less
interested in your money than in our ability to help; if we can’t, we won’t take your check.
In such cases, we recommend the writer use our Development/Consulting service to get the
project off to a solid start.

We do not provide marketing services, per se.  If we have ideas in this regard we’ll happily
share them, but we will not shop your work to agents or publishers, nor do we make any
guarantee, implied or otherwise, pertaining to the marketability of your work.

Discounts may be offered to verified members of writing groups who have arranged with
Storyfix.com for a discounted rate.  Be sure and mention your affiliation when you submit
your work and your fee to Storyfix.com.

Writing groups are encouraged to contact Storyfix.com for the negotiation of group rates, and
the possible development of a workshop presenting The Four Corners of Story (and other
developmental topics) to your membership.
